The

Portraits of Motherhood

Project

This project aims to celebrate the multifaceted nature of mothers … to create, to love, to expand themselves, to empathize, and to find strength even in the face of overwhelming demands.

Women and mothers often feel invisible in the work that they do, because in a lot of ways it is “invisible” and behind-the-scenes. I deeply long to create a space where women can share their voices and feel seen and understood in their experiences.

Together, with your written reflections, and my photographs, we will create a powerful tapestry of motherhood experiences— painting an authentic and diverse picture that honors the highs and lows, the joys and struggles, and the infinite possibilities that motherhood brings.

“I cannot tell you how special it is reading my reflections with your photographs and image titles. I am so honored you told my story. I felt like words were so inadequate to express how I felt and then you pieced it all together with your art and I am just so happy with the final result. I am so excited to have this forever. Thank you for giving me a voice and for capturing what motherhood looks like for me in such a genuine way. You are so amazing to do this project and it is so empowering

About Me.

Hi! I’m Michelle—a family film photographer who believes women deserve to be photographed—to be seen.

I have found tremendous healing and grace through allowing my innermost self to be seen through photographs.

I am passionate about body image resilience, film photography, and documenting my own experience with motherhood through self-portraits.

I know that the work of motherhood can often feel lonely and invisible, and I want you to feel seen in your motherhood through beautiful photographs that you and future generations will cherish forever.
