Three Under Three, Rachael’s Story.
“Motherhood has forced me to dig deep in my searches and create what it is I’ve been unable to find. It has taken a lot but in return has molded me into someone I’m really proud of. The future of mothers is bright because I’m a part of it. I’m being called to leave it better than I found it - and so are you.” — Rachael
It Takes A Village, Savannah’s Story.
“Nobody can do it all alone. While some take that phrase as evidence of how hard motherhood can be, my attitude has changed to see it as something beautiful: We are not meant to thrive in isolation.” - Savannah
Vivian Maier Inspired Self-Portraits
Just like Vivian Maier, photography has given me relief—a way to channel the tension I feel between motherhood and my career, and has helped me to “just keep moving” every time I hit the shutter. Her work has inspired me to take my own self-portraits more often, and to even start a whole project around self-portraiture — “Motherhood: A Self-Portrait.”
Motherhood: A Self-Portrait, My Story
My “Motherhood Self-Portraits” project explores an act of vulnerability—getting in front of the camera, but also what it means to be both connected and free in motherhood. For example, feeling invisible in motherhood, longing for myself within motherhood, and the intimate love and connection that is motherhood. It’s sometimes so intimate and intertwined, that you don’t know where they end and you begin. The process of putting this together has been so healing and helped me to acknowledge my experience, my feelings, and express them through photographs instead of burying them deep inside.
